Introduction To Anxiety

Have you ever experienced that when you are driving along, you suddenly have a weird feeling? Your heart starts beating fast, your muscles tense up and you have a disgust feeling. Anxiety is also said to be a genetic disease that is carried down from generation to generation. In definition, these are like a type of chemical messengers providing a string of information among nerve cells. Thus the brain's reaction is altered to react to certain situation which then causes anxiety attacks.

Most anxiety is treated by a mental health professional, a professional psychologist or psychiatrist. There are also self help books that can help you in day-to-day life. Most anxiety treatment includes a combination of both medication and cognitive-behavioral anxiety therapy. Once anxiety interferes with your day to day life functionality, that's when you would consider taking medications that are very helpful to your GAD situation. The medications to help with your GAD are called tranquillizers, in which they make you feel very relaxed and calm by lowering your level of anxiety.

Numerous treatments are available, such as medication, relaxation techniques, and counseling. However, different situation needs different treatment. People who suffer from serious anxiety need long-term treatment, and if the situation causing the anxiety is short term, short-term treatment will do.
